Linux file encryption: Basic gpg usage to encrypt files

Why to use gpg?

It’s free, secure, opensource, and supported. I would vote for truecrypt before but it’s deprecated totally now (i know it has a fork!), so i do NOT recommend using such a sw.

Step 1: Generate a key pair using seahorse

Step 2: To encrypt file: :

gpg -se -r

Step 3: To decrypt file:

gpg
